The Haunted House

Once there was big house, which people believed was haunted by two ghosts. They never let anyone stay at the house for long. One night a robber landed at the house. ‘I should spend the night here,’ he thought and went inside the house. Once inside, he walked towards the refrigerator to find something to eat.

Suddenly he heard some footsteps as if someone walking on the floor above. What is this sound? He wondered. He was alarmed and went upstairs to see if there was someone else in the house apart from him.  When he reached upstairs he found nobody. ‘Strange! What was making the sound then?’ thought the robber and returned downstairs. He made himself comfortable on a couch. Suddenly the candle stand began to move on its own and rose in the air. The robber was aghast to see the candle stand floating in the air. The robber screamed and ran out of the house in top speed.

A few days later a married couple was passing by the same house. ‘Oh what a lovely house’ they made up their mind to buy it. In the same house, that night the husband was watching TV. He sat on the same couch which the robber sat. Suddenly the lights went off. He started looking for a matchbox. Just then a woman handed a matchbox.

‘Thanks,’ he said thinking her to be his wife. When he entered the room he saw his wife sleeping. In the morning, he narrated the entire incident to his wife.

At the breakfast table, spoons and forks started to dance in the air.

This was the last straw for the couple.They packed their bags and hurriedly ran out of the house. Even the old caretaker packed his bag and when he was about to leave the 2 ghosts appeared before him. They said to him “We will never haunt this house again” said the ghosts. Since then the old caretaker became the owner of that house.
